Why This Program Matters

Starting in 2025, a new U.S. federal law requires all commercial truck drivers to speak and understand English at a functional level. This is not just about communication, it’s about keeping your license, ensuring safety, and unlocking better job opportunities.

Our 6-week program is designed specifically for CDL holders and non-native speakers, helping you master essential English and understand key legal requirements so you can confidently navigate U.S. roads and regulations.

Program

The program consists of 6 modules. Each module takes 1 week. The total duration is 6 weeks. The program consists of 2 partsReal-life English for truck drivers to speak more confidently and Legal Part to understand the laws, compliance rules, and safety expectations.

The program has 3 live sessions of 90 minutes per week. In total: 18 sessions.

The required level for the program is Intermediate. Number of participants: 6-10 per group.

This course is built on real-world experience and industry expertise from: Certified CDL instructors, U.S. legal experts on trucking regulations, Professional language coaches specialized in English for transportation

    • Greetings, CB codes, asking for help, dispatcher talk

    • Key terms: load, trailer, axle, logbook, DOT

    • Overview of CDL categories (A/B/C) and endorsements (H, N, T, P, S, X)

    • Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) requirements and CLP restrictions

    • Practice: Role-plays, audio drills, vocabulary bingo

    • Truck parts: brakes, tires, suspension, coupling, gauges

    • Pre-trip inspection: parts, alerts, warning labels

    • Legal duty of pre/post-trip inspections, Level I–V inspections, out-of-service situations

    • Distracted driving rules (manual phone use, texting penalties)

    • Practice: Diagram labeling, mock inspections, flashcard games

    • Phrases for checkpoints: “This is my logbook,” “Can you repeat that?”

    • Documents: license, registration, insurance

    • Driver rights: Coercion Rule §390.6, right to refuse illegal orders

    • Drug and alcohol rules: DOT testing, BAC thresholds, disqualification criteria

    • Medical certification: interstate/intrastate, "excepted" vs "non-excepted" categories

    • Practice: Officer role-plays, document dialogues, listening to bodycam scenarios

    • Signs, signals, test-style multiple-choice questions
      Hours-of-Service rules: 11/14/60/70 limits, 30-min break, false log consequences

    • Use of ELDs and transition to paper logs (RODS, storage, required data)

    • Practice: Sample tests, form filling, peer quizzes, logbook exercises

    • Weather delays, flat tires, breakdowns, calling for help

    • Describing accidents, injuries, damage

    • Accident reporting: what to record, MCS-90, post-crash HOS reset

    • Hazardous Materials basics: placarding, driver responsibilities under 49 CFR 171–180

    • Human trafficking awareness training and federal hotline protocol

    • Practice: Simulated 911 calls, dispatch reporting, phrase bank building

    • Politeness, U.S. tone, dispatcher/customer communication
      Labor & contract rights: pay, rest time, lease agreements, non-competes, OSHA protection

    • Driver protections: how to report violations, FMCSA complaint platforms, DataQ challenges

    • Fuel tax reporting, IFTA/IRP audit basics

    • Final assessment: Officer role-play + issue description + form completion

    • Practice: Presentations, 1:1 assessments, wrap-up reflection
